How tank bred seahorses face to being in captivity.?
I understand their fragility tank breds when they are captured in the wild, but they are the same way. Also what is the average tank bred seahorse life span, and would they react well be in for a tank with clowns various small blennies and Surgeons, and starfish?
Two great answers already! I some experience with both types, and they are roughly equal. Those that I took in Key Largo were dwarfs, and the water was very quiet and peaceful ... The ideal environment for these timid creatures peaceful. I've been diving all along the neighborhood, and the scene was just unreal ... I returned a friend at this point, and as a first timer, he was shocked by the beauty of shoal calm. (it was good to see interest in something outside of the beer ...) Seahorses are perfectly camoflaged in their natural environment ... something you should strive to replicate as closely as possible. Any variety in food is extremely beneficial ... as long as you can get to accept it! I would definitely discourage them in other fish. They are not comfortable at all in this situtation, and you may notice that if you try. Try a few hermits, or some of the smaller shrimp fantasy. Starfish are great. Coquille Saint-Jacques. Blenny and gobies are known to be unpredictable and belligerent ... They are extremely territorial ... although there are some varieties that may be OK. Oh, yes ... No anemones! Seahorses are not strong enough to escape the inevitable awkwardness in the tentacles.
