Stock XR100 shocks?
Are stock XR100 shocks OK to skip 5-8 foot jumps. If not what should I do to make it ok.
It depends if you want to say about 5-8 meters high, or if you talk to jump a distance of 5-8 feet. I measured one of my longest jump on a XR 100, and it was a good 20 feet. However, I was not very high. If you go for height and landing on a smooth "ramp down" then it should go. If you miss and land on a flat section or an overshoot and land on a flat surface, the suspension will be "bottoming out" and you may go so far as to damage the chassis or even break an ankle or two. It just depends on your weight, but as a general rule, the XR 100 is not made for big jumps. It is a very fun machine, but this is definitely not for a motocross track. I once tried to run the mine, and it was not a good idea at all. I do not have enough suspension and almost broke my ankle when I'm went on some jumps. There is not much you can do to change that, other than finding a different bike. You can buy stiffer springs to put in the front fork, but they may be very costly. The process of changing them out is also quite difficult and time consuming too. If you this, you will also need to adjust your rear suspension.
