Can I use 5/8" steel braided lines to cool my transmission instead of GM OEM Trans. Cooling Lines?
OEM Transmission Cooling Lines for a 1985 Corvette have been discontinued. BowtieOverdrive.com sells Cooling Lines with flexible hose on the ends for 130/set. I have searched far and wide online and can't find them for 1985 (they are available for other years). I think nicely routed steel braided lines will solve the problem.... i'm not trying to win an "originality contest". . .
I think 5/8" is a little big for trans cooler lines. 5/16" or 3/8" would probably be better, and easier to work with as far as routing the lines. Just don't use aluminum or copper line!! The metal will fatigue with vibration and crack. I know summit and jegs sells quick disconnect fittings for trans lines and they use -6 hose, which has an i.d. of 3/8".
