Is a dielectric union concern for a natural gas connection?
I am installing a new water heater to natural gas in my house. The existing gas line to the heater hose is black for copper pipe to a rigid piece of copper tube over a flexible 1 / 2 "flared connector. Can 1 / 2 'black pipe new water heater be connected directly to copper flex tube or should there be a dielectric union between the 2 metals disimilar? Would it be better to remove all the pipes and copper pipes and just install black pipe all the way from the water heater?
A dielectric Union is not an acceptable gas connection. Me personally? I would go black pipe to the end with a flexible steel connector device (with shut-off valve) to gas valve. G'luck! PS (nothing wrong with copper though) ~+~+~+~+~+~+ on Edit: Do not forget the drain.
