1972 Chevelle 350 Chev mailibu missed?
I bought the 72 chevelle, it starts well but has missed somewhere and try to reduce when the cylinder misfire comes. reaction is that the rise of more than 1500 rpm the carburetor POPs from the front left barrel (CARB Holley 4barrel is a high-rise) Ive a pace and didn't work. the engine has been recently built to drag, but the owner didn't want to Mess with her more I bought the car thinking I could fix it but Ive never delt with an engine like that. the car does not back fire fromt exhaust anyone know if it could be a valve or a cylinder or maybe the carburetor itself problem? As I said, it will start fine, no problem at idle, I can move, but usually go very far, the poping will become stronger while the system increases. Anyone have some good troubleshooting tips?
I'd do the following: Remove both valve covers and have someone bump the starter while watching the action noting valve with a valve which may be planted in the guide. Also watch each arm swing to a full range motion. If you do not see anything unusual rockers are set properly. If going to the final round: Remove each rocker and install a dial indicator 0-1 at the end of each push rod (one at a time) bump the starter over two revolutions to check the intake and exhaust lobe lifts. It is quite possible that you already have an athlete who is stuck inside of the lifter bore or a cam lobe which is destroyed. In this case the engine is out and the block and robbed a store motor must verify clearance within each weightlifter Boring and / or the cam and lifters replaced. Personally, I saw a lot of professionalism built racing engines recently jammed with buttons in the bores. It turns out that the problem was due to pusher plate and roller lifters who were slightly round. In one case the stem of the valve was stuck inside the valve guide.
