Just got a tune up + new ignition coil, car is taking long time to start!!!?
Hello! I have 99 subaru legacy. Just spent 600 on a tune up plus new battery and ignition coil. I've had the car for 2 days. Day 1= drove and started great, like normal. Day 2= every time I go to start the car it takes like 10-12 cycle/revolution (not sure of the name) before it catches and starts. If I turn off the car, immediately after the first try and restart, it catches quick (like it used to). Mechanic is not in the shop til Monday so i am hoping someone has an idea!
Isn't it a bit odd that this should happen immediately after the car is in the shop?
Did they replace the fuel filter? If not, I would start there. An auto parts store may do a fuel pressure test. You could have a weak fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator is failing.
Are you a DIYer? An easy way to test for an FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) leak in the vacuum side is to replace the vacuum line going into the FPR with a length of clear tubing. Now you'll be able to see the leak as it happens. It will most likely show failure when your vacuum is at its lowest point, as in during acceleration.
